Welcome Message

On behalf of the Association of Korean Woman Scientists and Engineers (KWSE), I would like to extend my warmest welcome to all of you to the 2023 International Young Woman Scientist Camp, hosted by KWSE and sponsored by the Ministry of Science and ICT, Korea. Scheduled for September 20, 2023, at the e-Sports Daejeon Arena in Daejeon, the Camp holds the theme "YES (Young Women Engineers and Scientists), we represent the future of STEM." This gathering will provide an exceptional and invaluable chance for collaboration between young women scientists and engineers from both Korea and around the world.

Since 2012, the YWS camp have been held annually for next-generation women scientists and engineers to strengthen their global capacities, exchange research information, and share cultural experiences. Along with the annual YWS Camp, the participants of Smart Sister Program since 2013 have gathered at the Camp to share their journey in Korea and studies.

The past three years have presented unprecedented challenges due to the pandemic, altering the way we lead our daily lives and compelling us to maintain physical distance. This year's camp carries special significance as it is designed to be an entirely in-person meeting. We're excited that Campers would have the opportunity to connect face-to-face, exchange handshakes, and share their enthusiasm directly.

The Association of Korean Women Scientists and Engineers (KWSE) was founded in 1993, and this year marks our 30th anniversary. KWSE has been dedicated to contributing to the national development of science and technology, as well as protecting the rights of women in STEM fields. We will continue to operate a diverse range of programs aimed at enhancing the research capabilities of young scientists and engineers, while also building a network of connections among young scholars. As the President of KWSE, I enthusiastically encourage your active participation and interest in our programs.

I hope you make the most out of the 2023 YWS Camp, a platform dedicated to communication and learning for the next generation of women scientists and engineers, fostering a deeper mutual understanding. I appreciate your participation and look forward to connecting you all.

Thank you.

Ju Seong Jin
President of KWSE
